When Problems Arise

Difficulties sometimes develop, even in the most carefully managed events. Should something go wrong, you are encouraged to report it to the Regional Staff as soon as possible. During training, the Regional Staff – Administrators and Coaches – will be present on the fields and should be informed. If an incident occurs when or where the Regional Staff are not immediately present, please contact the appropriate Administrator:

Katia Sarokon (ODP Administrator) – (716) 860-4160

Christina Sarokon (ODP Liaison – Girls) – (772) 521-0375

Medical Emergencies

In the event of an on-field emergency, the Certified Athletic Trainer assigned to the field will be called from the medical tent to make an initial assessment. If Certified Athletic Trainer determines that the situation is mild or non-life threatening, the injured athlete will be transported to the medical tent for further evaluation. If the Certified Athletic Trainer determines that the injured athlete needs further medical attention, he or she may decide on one of two courses of action. The trainer may either request that the chaperone take the player to the hospital or the trainer may call for an ambulance. This decision is at the discretion of the trainer.

Should a player need to leave campus due to a medical emergency, a chaperone or Region representative is required to accompany the player. Athletic Trainers cannot provide transportation to the hospital as they must remain on the fields in case of additional emergencies. The Region representative or chaperone will be provided to bring the player’s Medical Release and insurance information with them to the hospital. The Athletic Trainer will also contact the player’s parents to inform them of the situation. If a chaperone or Region representative accompanies the player to the hospital in an ambulance, he/she should coordinate with their other chaperones to arrange pick up from the hospital following treatment. If the chaperone assigned goes to the hospital, the region representative will take over the care of the other players in that chaperone’s group.

Upon return, the injured athlete must check in with the Certified Athletic Trainer who evaluated him/her. The injured athlete will not be permitted to play without a physician's note stating medical clearance. If an injury happens in the dorms, please request the clerk at the desk in the lobby to contact the campus police and then contact the trainer and the Regional Administrator. Lastly, if you have a sick/injured player, she/he may not remain alone in the dorms. A chaperone must remain in the building with an injured or ill player. If the player is able, he/she may come to the field and rest/watch. Contact an administrator in the event of any such injury/sickness.

Evaluations and Selection Process

At the end of the Identification camps, we will have selected the regional pools for age groups 17, 16, 15, 14 and 13 and under. These selections are based on player performance and evaluations from the training sessions and matches. Each day the Regional Coaches will select a group of players to participate in pool training or a pool game. This list will be posted by 10pm each night on the TeamApp. Please check this list each day and notify your players if they have made the pool. This will give them enough time to prepare for the pool training/pool game and have breakfast.

Allergies and Medications

We are aware that many players have food allergies and we will work with the universities to give the players choices. Parents should provide what the allergy is when they register their player.

If a player carries an Epi pen, they must carry it with them at all times in their bag. If they need assistance administering the shot, the athletic trainers can do so. We will have athletic trainers available and will provide the chaperones with their contact information for each camp and gender.

Medications, if your player takes daily medication, it must be put in a bag labeled with your players name, date of birth and the dosing information.  The Athletic Trainer will arrange for the player to meet them daily to administer their medication.  Athletic Trainers will not administer over the counter medication.  If you would like your player to bring a pain reliever, you must have a written note to give to the chaperone with directions and your signature and provide that to the chaperone at check in. You will then give them permission with that note for them to administer the medication you have brought to your child only!!!!

Rooms and Keys

Players and chaperones will be housed 2 or 3 per room.  Each person will receive a key or combination. There is a “lost key fine” for both campuses. The state will be billed for any lost keys or damage done to any university property.

Rider University Fee: $50 per lost key

The dormitory curfew is 10:00 pm and lights out is 11:00 PM. Doors to the dorms will be automatically locked at 11 pm.

For security purposes and the wellbeing of our athletes, players and chaperones are the only ones permitted in the dorms. Coaches, parents and visitors may not enter the dorm at any time, this includes the lobby area.

Players should bring Nike or no name brand short, socks and t-shirt (no tank tops) without club/State or College logos. Any brand cleats or goalkeeper gloves are acceptable. Any color is acceptable. Players must wear shin guards during all trainings and games.
