Director of Soccer Operation

Sandpoint Soccer Association (SSA) is looking for a dynamic, organized, community-minded person to serve as director of soccer operations. Our ideal candidate is passionate about developing players at all skill levels and building a competitive club. You’ll ensure that players at all age levels are being coached consistently and effectively, in line with our overarching vision and philosophy.

From recreational to competitive club play, SSA is dedicated to providing quality youth soccer programs that facilitate personal and athletic development for all players of all skill levels in a safe, positive, and supportive environment. In everything we do, we aim to bring out the best in each other. We’re headquartered in beautiful Sandpoint, Idaho, and welcome players from all over North Idaho.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage Strikers and recreational programs
  • Oversee all coaching and player development activities
  • Manage and oversee all field-related issues
  • Organize and direct Strikers tryouts prior to each season
  • Select players and assign them to teams based on the results of tryouts, consulting with coaches and board members as needed
  • Assign head and assistant coaches for each team prior to each season, consulting with coaches and board members as needed
  • Assist with organizing and hosting the Pend Oreille Cup tournament
  • Oversee practice and game scheduling
  • Oversee coach training by holding clinics, organizing licensing courses, designing curriculum and training programs, and other activities
  • Organize and oversee winter indoor soccer and any developmental programs
  • Maintain and organize records and documentation
  • Recruit players, coaches, managers, officials, and volunteers
  • Represent SSA within the Sandpoint and youth soccer communities, developing relationships with the school district, city, local businesses, neighboring soccer clubs, and the Idaho Youth Soccer Association
  • Work with the board to implement changes to formal policies and procedures; create new programs or substantially modify existing programs; and address disciplinary issues related to coaches, players, or parents
  • Assist with securing sponsorships, fundraising, marketing, and promoting SSA
  • Keep the board up to date on issues that affect SSA
  • Be available to attend tournaments and board meetings, and travel as needed
  • Foster a positive and inclusive culture, champion our core values, and emphasize fun

What will make you a good fit:

  • Enthusiasm for and dedication to youth soccer
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to model sportsmanship and inspire excellence
  • Director, coach, and player experience
  • Minimum of a USSF C license
  • Ability to pass a background check and all necessary certifications
  • Desire and ability to relocate to the Sandpoint area

This is a full-time, year-round position, based in Sandpoint and reporting to the SSA board of directors. Start date is flexible, but preference will be given to candidates who can start right away. Starting salary is $50,000 to $60,000 depending on experience.
