SKV is a non-profit organization formed in 1982 which provides soccer related programming to players ages 3-19. SKV is an Academy Affiliate Club of Sporting Kansas City. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Coaching will be responsible for supporting and enriching the Club’s core mission, vision, and values through the development of its players and coaches.

Director of Coaching and Player Development

The Director of Coaching and Player Development will serve an integral part in the leadership and development of Sporting Kaw Valley (SKV). SKV is a non-profit organization formed in 1982 which provides soccer related programming to players ages 3-19. SKV is an Academy Affiliate Club of Sporting Kansas City. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Coaching will be responsible for supporting and enriching the Club’s core mission, vision, and values through the development of its players and coaches.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all soccer related activities and the development of Club’s teams, coaches, and players.
  • Oversee the identification, recruitment, and retention of all coaches.
  • Develop and implement a Club wide USYS coaching curriculum.
  • Design and deliver USYS player development and team training programs.
  • Organize and administer annual competitive player tryouts.
  • Host coaching education events and coordinate continuing education opportunities for coaches.
  • Attend weekly practices and weekend games of teams to give assistance, feedback, and advice.
  • Develop and implement a standard player and coach evaluation plan.
  • Manage the Club calendar for planning and scheduling of training, games, and tournaments.
  • Educate parents on the Club’s policies and philosophies through written communication, webinars, and meetings.
  • If needed, be available to train and coach teams.

Skills and Experience

  • USSF “B” Coaching License or higher preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in sports management preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in a youth soccer director position or college coaching experience preferred.
  • Capacity to create and adapt to programming in multiple unique markets.
  • Experience in developing curriculums and training programs.
  • Experience in facilitating player and coach development programming.
  • Awareness of youth soccer industry trends and developments.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing coaches.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Calendar.
  • Proficient with Virtual facilitation platforms, including but not limited to; Zoom, Microsoft Teams
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write in the English language.
  • Spanish language fluency is preferred, but not required.

Structure:

  • Hybrid position including office hours and time in the field
  • Weekdays and Weekends
  • Travel required. Must have reliable transportation.
  • Reports to Executive Director
